About This Speaker

Andi Petrillo is an award-winning Canadian sportscaster whose career has spanned over two decades. She made history as the first woman to join the Hockey Night in Canada studio team full-time. Currently, she hosts CBC Sports Primetime, the network’s Saturday night show featuring professional women’s sports and Canada’s high-performance athletes.

Petrillo got her start at 19 as a volunteer at Rogers Cable York Region in Ontario. She became the station’s sports host and producer and found her niche in hockey.

Next, she joined Leafs TV, reporting on the Maple Leafs and Marlies. Her role at MLSE grew to include hosting Raptors and Toronto FC coverage. She also freelanced for ESPN.

Throughout her career, Andi Petrillo has achieved many firsts for women in sports broadcasting in Canada. She has helped pave the way for younger female broadcasters. She is a three-time Canadian Screen Award winner for Best Sports Host and the first woman to receive the George Gross-Don Goodwin Award. In 2026, she was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame.

Petrillo has anchored CBC’s coverage of several Olympic Games, including Milan Cortina 2026, and the FIFA World Cup. She has also hosted CBC’s Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) broadcasts and co-hosted Prime Monday Night Hockey.

Her book, Just Call Me “Andi”: Sports Stories from a Trailblazer, shares highlights from her groundbreaking career.
