About This Speaker: Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe is an Emmy Award-winning TV host, producer, narrator, podcaster, bestselling author, and America’s most passionate advocate for the skilled trades. As CEO of the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, he has awarded nearly $7 million in work ethic scholarships and championed a national effort to reintroduce shop class in high schools—an effort that’s showing real progress.

Best known as the creator and host of Dirty Jobs on Discovery Channel, Mike has worked alongside Americans in over 350 unique vocations, traveling to every state multiple times. Dirty Jobs has aired weekly for more than 20 years and launched a genre of work-focused television. He’s also hosted and produced Somebody’s Gotta Do It (CNN), Six Degrees (Discovery), The Story Behind the Story (TBN), and Returning the Favor (Facebook). As a narrator, Mike’s voice has guided audiences through acclaimed series like How the Universe Works, Deadliest Catch, and Planet Earth.

Mike Rowe has served as spokesman for Ford, Hewlett-Packard, Caterpillar, Motorola, and other major brands that fuel America’s infrastructure. His hit podcast, The Way I Heard It, has nearly 300 million downloads, featuring personal stories and interviews with innovators, dirty jobbers, and everyday heroes. He’s also launched Knobel Tennessee Whiskey, named after his grandfather—a skilled tradesman and the inspiration for Dirty Jobs. Proceeds support the mikeroweWORKS Foundation.

Despite some hesitation, Mike remains active on Facebook (6+ million followers), and vows to take YouTube and Instagram more seriously. TikTok? He’s still skeptical.

Before Dirty Jobs, Mike spent nearly two decades freelancing in entertainment, including seven seasons with the Baltimore Opera. He was famously fired from QVC, a moment he calls “entirely justifiable.”

Today, Mike lives in Northern California—though he politely asks you not to hold that against him.
