About This Speaker: Jessica Campbell
In July 2024, Jessica Campbell etched her name in the history books when she was named assistant coach for the Seattle Kraken. Further, in the fall of 2024 she became the first female coach to be behind the bench in an NHL game.
History has been a common theme for Jessica’s career – she first made headlines in 2021 when she was named assistant coach for the Nurnberg Ice Tigers in Sweden and became the first woman to coach at the men’s world championships with the German national team. After earning a role with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds in 2022, Jessica remained diligent in her work, always having her sights set on the NHL.
In 2019, as a Cornell University graduate and Team Canada National Team Player, Jessica Campbell founded her company, JC Powerskating, attracting elite NHL players for off-season training. The success of her business enabled Jessica to see that her skillset as a coach and as a leader could earn her a seat at the table.
Jessica Campbell stands alone in her identity on the coaching bench — a female in an entirely male world — a role she wholeheartedly embraces not just for the progress of women in the sports world, but for all women and young girls.
