About This Speaker: Greg Stewart
Greg Stewart is a two-time Paralympic Champion in shot put. He competed in the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Born without a left arm below the elbow, Greg overcame many challenges to become a top athlete. After the 2020 Tokyo Games, Greg retired from competitive sport. The exhaustion of Covid and his struggles with the dynamics of athletics led to his decision. However, while watching the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, he rediscovered his passion for shot put. In January 2024, he began his journey toward the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Greg’s personal transformation began in 2011, when he faced a challenge many athletes encounter after college: loss of identity. After his basketball career at Thompson Rivers University (TRU), Greg felt uncertain and lost. He struggled with completing his degree and bounced between jobs without direction or purpose.
In 2014, Greg Stewart joined a six-month Personal Empowerment Training program at the Breath Integration, Coaching, and Training Centre. There, he attended group therapy three times a week. He learned to understand his emotions, thoughts, and personal truths. He identified five core emotions—fear, guilt, anger, sadness, and joy—and explored how they impacted his body. This marked the beginning of his mindfulness practice.
Greg Stewart continued his emotional development over the next few years. In 2018, he completed an eight-month Breath Practitioner training program. He graduated with the tools to help others connect with their emotions and create fulfilling lives. Since then, he has been practicing mindfulness and coaching clients to find purpose and emotional well-being.
