About This Speaker: Ethan Bear
Ethan Bear is a Plains Cree athlete, proud member of the Ochapowace Nation, and a powerful voice for courage, resilience, and cultural pride. Born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, Ethan’s path to professional hockey was anything but straightforward — shaped by physical isolation, limited resources, and the social challenges many Indigenous youth face. Rather than letting these barriers define him, Ethan embraced the hard work, discipline, and determination that brought him to the world’s highest level of hockey.
Known for his thoughtful leadership both on and off the ice, Ethan has used his platform to elevate conversations about identity, inclusion, and the importance of representation. He stands as a compelling model for young people everywhere — especially Indigenous youth — showing that pursuing big dreams with integrity and pride is achievable. Through his foundation work, hockey camps, and speaking engagements, Ethan inspires audiences to lead with heart, stand up to adversity, and believe that their stories matter.
