Mark Critch is one of Canada’s most recognizable comedic talents. Best known as the anchor and roving reporter on CBC Television’s long-running, Gemini Award-winning series This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Mark brings sharp wit and fearless humor to Canadian current events. Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he has spent decades entertaining audiences across the country and around the world.
Critch began his journey on 22 Minutes as a writer before becoming a full-time cast member. Known for his signature on-the-street interviews and political satire, he has famously confronted public figures including John Kerry and Alec Baldwin. His work has earned him eight Gemini nominations and a Canadian Comedy Award for writing on the show.
In addition to 22 Minutes, Mark Critch is the co-creator and star of Son of a Critch, a hit CBC comedy series based on his bestselling memoir. He has also hosted the Halifax Comedy Festival and performed at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. His writing and performing credits extend to CBC’s Madly Off in All Directions and the acclaimed Just for Laughs series.
