About This Speaker: Devin Heroux
Award-winning journalist Devin Heroux is a multi-platform reporter, recognized for his captivating and empathetic storytelling.
Heroux’s reporting, now spanning nearly two decades, recently earned him the King Charles III Coronation Medal, given to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to their country at home or abroad.
Throughout his career, Heroux has gained recognition for his coverage of amateur and professional sports, with a particular emphasis on curling. He started his career in 2010 with CBC Saskatchewan in his hometown of Saskatoon, Sask. In 2016, he joined CBC News and moved to CBC Sports a year later.
Most recently, Heroux joined the Curling Group’s editorial team as Head of Content and Chief Correspondent. In this new role, Heroux is bringing his expertise to deliver top-tier storytelling and breaking news to curling fans across digital platforms and streaming services, including comprehensive coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling.
Heroux has been candid about his journey as one of Canada’s few openly national gay sports journalists – speaking throughout the country and globally about the power of representation in sport and making the field of play more inclusive.
Originally from Saskatoon, Heroux was first captivated by the Olympic Winter Games while watching the Saskatchewan curling team led by Sandra Schmirler win gold at Nagano 1998. Now based in Toronto, he is a cross-platform reporter for CBC Sports and News covering the Olympics, Paralympics and beyond.
He’s covered everything from the Toronto Raptors’ NBA championship to U.S. Open tennis, Grey Cups and numerous sporting world championships. As a veteran reporter, Devin Heroux covered his fourth consecutive Olympic and Paralympic Games for CBC in Paris this past summer.
