Rayhan Azmat’s story is one of incredible resilience and perseverance. Despite profound personal adversity, he has built an exceptional professional career. In his 20s, he was diagnosed with an ultra-rare neuromuscular condition. This condition impacts only two people per million worldwide. What started with a limp has now left him fully confined to a wheelchair. Amid these enormous challenges, Rayhan Azmat has thrived in all aspects of his life.

His impressive 20-year professional journey began at PwC. This is the world’s largest global professional services firm. There, he supported major clients like Sony and IMAX as a Chartered Accountant. He later channeled his lifelong love of cinema into a deeper career. He pursued roles in the Media and Entertainment industry. After various executive positions, Rayhan Azmat is now the Vice President at Cineplex Entertainment. At Cineplex, Rayhan Azmat leads Financial Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations, and Corporate Development.

The foundation for his resilience was built early on. As the son of immigrant parents, Rayhan’s journey began in Winnipeg. He and his brothers were among the only people of colour in their community. Instead of focusing on what made him different, he learned to celebrate it. As a result, Rayhan Azmat gained a unique perspective that prepared him to navigate the world with confidence. In addition to his corporate success, Rayhan is a dedicated disability advocate. He works to advance disability rights and inclusion. Furthermore, he serves on the Board for DEEN Support Services. This Canadian charity works to meet the social and cultural needs of those living with disabilities.
