About This Speaker: John Langan

John Langan is a Saulteaux (pronounced So-Toe)/ Cree indigenous man from Keeseekoose First Nation, Saskatchewan, Treaty 4 Territory, and hails from the Bear Clan. A graduate of the Indigenous Justice and Criminology Program at the University of Saskatchewan. John continues to apply his skills to his now full time job as a police constable whilst still serving his country with the Canadian Armed Forces part time. John’s unique upbringing has helped him bring a unique perspective to both his public service and service to his country. John continues to carry on his people’s culture by practicing and continuing ceremony.

John is an award winning author and speaks professionally to thousands of people nationwide on a story of resilience, intergenerational residential school trauma, and the ability to overcome obstacles in life through perseverance and determination. He is a soldier, police officer, traditional knowledge/language keeper, and most importantly a husband and father. John is driven to share the beauty of indigenous culture and ceremony.
