It’s been a busy couple of months here at Talent Bureau. We’re so lucky to get to work with so many amazing speakers and events across North America (and beyond) and we wanted to share a few of the highlights of the past couple months.
SPEAKERS WE BOOKED
So many speakers we’ve had the opportunity to work with have been blowing our minds every step of the way. We’ve had recent bookings with Hasan Minhaj of The Daily Show fame, Mike McAvoy, CEO of The Onion, and radio icon Charlamagne Tha God.
In the political arena we’ve had CNN personality Van Jones, the Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, and Former Premier of BC, Christy Clark on the podium. It’s been a treat to work with Sarah Hurwitz recently, the former chief speechwriter to Michelle Obama for her 8 years in office, who has been receiving rave reviews from audiences all over for her insights on effective communication.
Brian Wong spoke to Deloitte for the third time in 18 months, and similarly, Ted Graham lit up stages for Meridian and Canada’s Top 100 Conference.
NFL Hall of Famer Hines Ward blew people away with his kindness and words on sports and leadership. Female sports icons Hayley Wickenheiser, Tessa Bonhomme, Christine Sinclair have had a busy few months with events across Canada. We’ve also been busy managing events for Ken Shamrock, Max Domi, Cito Gaston and many others.
WHAT WE’VE SEEN
We’ve enjoyed taking a seat and seeing a few of our dream conferences ourselves. Jeff J was in Vancouver for TED 2018, where among all the amazing talks he was particularly inspired by Renzo Piano, the architect who built the Pompidou Museum in Paris.
Meanwhile, Jeff L partied with Bernie Sanders and Spike Lee at SXSW in Austin, TX. Among many unforgettable moments, he loved seeing Larry Summers (President of Nike’s Jordan Brand) speak in person and getting introduced to Comedy Bang Bang. They’re absolutely hilarious.
FUN THINGS WE DID
Jeff L took part in creating the SickWish gala, which was part-birthday-party-for-our-speaker-Jeremie-Saunders and part-fundraiser. We’re proud to say it raised over $30,000 to grant some spectacular wishes to adults living with illness.
Paul Bissonnette put out his 5-part mockumentary, Biznasty Does BC, and Jeff J had a lot of fun co-writing on the project.
Jeff J visited Mexico City for the first time, and Jeff L went down under to New Zealand and Australia.
COMING UP
We are extremely excited about our summer and fall bookings. We have events on the docket for Vanity Fair cover girl Lena Waithe (Ready Player One), Pixar Story Creator Matthew Luhn, Cecile Richards and many many others.
To our great event planner clients who continue to trust us to bring the best talent for their stages, we thank you.
