About This Speaker: Kendra Jessie
Kendra Jessie is a talented and accomplished Cree, Métis, and Ukrainian woman. Born and raised in northern Alberta, she is a community member from Sucker Creek First Nation with family from Gift Lake Metis Settlement and Whitefish Lake First Nation.
Growing up, she was an avid athlete and competed in various sports. Kendra’s passion for sports led her to pursue a Bachelor of Sport Management degree from Brock University. She has had the honor to represent Team Alberta at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship as both a player and a coach winning bronze and silver medals. Kendra was a part of the 2023 North American Indigenous Games as a mission staff member and she is a Board Member for the upcoming games in 2027. After years of being involved in sport, Kendra Jessie founded the nonprofit organization, Sport for Spirit, that is dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities and marginalized groups through health, wellness, and sports.
Along with her achievements in sport, she is also an influencer, fancy dancer, wellness advocate, and public speaker. Kendra has a mass following of over 200k followers and uses her social media platforms to share her story and inspire Indigenous people to live a good life through culture, healing, movement, and wellness.
Kendra Jessie has been featured in campaigns with Nike, the Toronto Raptors, Manitobah Mukluks and walked the runway at New York Fashion Week. Through her work, she leads by example, Kendra’s passion and dedication to her culture, sports and wellness make her a role model and inspiration to many.
