According to CAMH, burnout is “a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress”. Often one will experience burnout in relation to their career, but the effects of it can be felt in other aspects of their life. Burnout can make you feel helpless and reduce motivation and productivity.

If you’re among the hand-raisers, you are certainly not alone. As we know, the last year and a bit has been a lot for everyone. We’ve observed an incredible level of resilience in the face of things like Zoom fatigue, burnout, and significant life adjustments no one could have anticipated.

As people slowly return to their offices and places of work, it’s important that teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to identify signs of burnout in their teams. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and this couldn’t be more true when it comes to work-life.
