About Cassie
Cassie Campbell-Pascall is one of Canada’s most popular female athletes. She is the former Captain of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey team. In 2002, Cassie led her team to Canada’s first gold medal in hockey in 50 years. She was able to repeat her success in 2006 when she led the Canadian to another Olympic gold.
Cassie has been included on all-star teams in the NWHL and the Ontario Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Association. As a player, she has shown uncompromising grit and versatility, playing both forward and defence in her career. She broadened her career by joining the Calgary Oval X-Treme of the Western Women’s Hockey League in 2001. There, Cassie had the role of captain until 2005.
Post-retirement from competitive hockey, Cassie became the first woman to do colour commentary on Hockey Night in Canada. Additionally, she has done broadcasting with TSN and Headline Sports. Cassie is also an active member of her community. She has worked with various charities such as the Ronald McDonald House. Furthermore, she also acts as a special advisor to Scotiabank.
Cassie Campbell-Pascall was inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. She holds an Honors Sociology Degree from the University of Guelph. Cassie’s focus on determination and teamwork shine as she speaks of her gold medal performances. She believes in the power of teamwork, and is grateful to those on her team who “didn’t stop believing in one another.”
